Why did you start Coaching?I chalk it up to my insatiable curiosity about our common humanity. I am endlessly fascinated by the human mind, body, and voice, and by the entanglements of art and science.
Who should contact you for a session?Actors, Singers, Directors, Teachers, Politicians, Preachers, Public Speakers, Lawyers, Judges, Police Officers, Producers (for their productions or themselves!), and the list goes on. Anyone who wants to use their voice and body with greater ease and increased clarity will benefit from a session or workshop. While the main focus of my practice has been applications of voice and movement for acting onscreen or onstage, those skills are extremely useful for a number of professions that rely on the voice.
What Services do you offer? I offer private coaching to individual clients, production coaching for both live and filmed productions, and the occasional group class for acting or voicework. See the services page for all current offerings.
How does a session or a coaching typically go?The focus of the work really does depend on you and your needs as a person or a production. Is there a general issue with nerves/stage fright before your big audition, or right before giving that important presentation? Is there a dialect/accent that you or your cast need assistance designing and acquiring? Or perhaps you simply want to work on general interpersonal communication skills? The work is always tailored to the individual or production. I am a certified teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®, and I use that and Knight Thompson Speechwork as the foundational methods for my approach. I also draw from the work of other teachers and methodologies I have explored - Patsy Rodenburg, Kristen Linklater, Cicely Berry, Arthur Lessac, Anne Bogart and SITI Company, Suzuki work, Viewpoints, Alexander Work, Feldenkreis Work, Laban Notation, Chekov, Meisner, Declan Donnellan, Yoga, Reiki, and Shiatsu.
